Why are you involved with Montessori education?
I wanted to be able to give my children the opportunity to learn in an educational environment that supports and nurtures their freedom to be themselves, at their level and at their own pace without pressure to perform and be put in a box. When I came across the Montessori Pedagogy, the instilling of independence, self-discipline, and education of the whole child resonated with me and my approach to life and something I wanted my children to learn as part of their education experience. After much research, I knew MIC was the place I was looking for as the school for my children, it is a small community with beautiful environments that feels like an extension of home, multi-aged classes to give them opportunities to be leaders and being with the same teacher for 3 years is really comforting.
What year did you commence at MIC?
I joined MIC as a parent in 2012 and started working in Admin as a staff member in 2014.
How would you describe what you do?
I support and assist the Principal and Executive Team, to work alongside them is a joy and an honour as they do some big work for our little but growing school. I support them so they can focus on the big things – their amazing behind-the-scenes work in keeping our beautiful college growing and expanding is inspiring and admirable.
What’s your favourite thing about your role?
Coming to work every day and being able to work alongside the passionate Administration and Executive Team as well as watching all the students grow from little cuties in Early Learning into amazing and respectful young adults in the Adolescent Community.
