Why are you involved with Montessori education?

My involvement was a natural progression as Montessori aligns so well with my personal teaching philosophies and my teaching practices. After teaching at Hills Montessori in the Adelaide Hills for six years, in both the adolescent program and senior primary, I knew it was a great fit for me. I believe strongly in encouraging children to understand that they have real autonomy over their learning, and helping them understand their own desires and the steps they need to take to get there.

What year did you commence at MIC?

2020

How would you describe what you do?

I fundamentally believe in my role as an advocate for all children to have fair and equitable access to education. I believe that all children have a right to be taken as they are and have their interests, knowledge and abilities built upon, enriched and developed so that they will realise their potential for meaningful, fulfilling participation in society.

What’s your favourite thing about your role?

I love getting to spend time with the students and really get to know them so I can nurture and support their growth.
