Why are you involved with Montessori education?

Having started my educational journey at a Montessori school at the age of four, I have always had an understanding that the Montessori way of teaching works. When the job opportunity came just as I had graduated from my Masters, I had to pinch myself to make sure I was not in a dream state. So far I am blown away by the wonderful staff, the rain forest, and abundance of greenery, and I’m pretty smitten with the chooks!

What year did you commence at MIC?

2021

How would you describe what you do?

I have been teaching for the past 16 years and every time I walk into a classroom I feel like magic has the potential to unfurl. It’s usually the students that make the magic and I have the honoured position to observe. To see students taking ownership of their learning is what I’ve always aspired to do as a teacher. I see my role as providing a safe, respectful space for students to take risks and ask questions.

What’s your favourite thing about your role?

Seeing students have the confidence to express themselves.
