When other countries think of Australia, generally the thing that goes hand in hand is our iconic wildlife and welcoming nature. Chinese students visiting our school had their Montessori experience coincide with a tree planting initiative organised by our very own Senior Primary student Mark Pearce. Mark and his sister Emma wanted to do more to support koalas as their population is dwindling due to environmental changes.
With support from our encouraging staff and the Queensland Koala Crusaders, our students and exchange students were able to plant 120 Eucalyptus trees. The trees were planted to be harvested as fodder for koalas in rehabilitation. Students at MIC will continue to monitor and take care of the trees as part of their learning experiences.
